Senator Michael Balboni, chairman, Senate Committee on Homeland Security, issued the following statement on Mineola Arrests of Suspects in Tamil Tiger Terror Plot:

"In the preceding weeks and months, we have witnessed several successful sting operations that have prevented terrorist attacks. This is a credit to law enforcement in this country and abroad. Saturday's arrest of these individuals reminds us that terror can emanate from anywhere, including our backyard. It is not simple enough to protect our own nation; we must ensure that America cannot be used as a staging ground for terrorist acts in other countries."
