Library Director Arlene Nevens has announced that three independent candidates have submitted the required number of signatures on their petitions to qualify to run in the October 30 library election for trustee and nominating committee positions.

For the Great Neck Library Board of Trustees:

For the seat currently held by Joyce Klein, the nominating committee's candidate is Jonathan Kahn. The independent candidate for the seat will be Andrew Greene.

For the seat currently held by Bette Weidman, the nominating committee candidate is Robert Spitalnick. The independent candidate for the seat will be Janet Eshagoff.

For the Great Neck Library Nominating Committee:

For the seat currently held by Ellen Birnbaum, the nominating committee candidate is Frederick Pomerantz. The independent candidate will be Naomi Feldheim.

For the seat currently held by Martha Cohen, the nominating committee candidate is Barton Sobel. There is no independent candidate for this position.

A Meet the Candidates night is being arranged for Oct. 10.
