American Idol and Friends Celebrate 5K Fun Run
By Amy Serwitz
If you believe in an American Idol; a Rock River singer; Sophia Hall and Spider-man; dreams that come true and magical moments; laughter; Sue, Janice and Gail of Century 21; helium balloons and special wishes; a healing touch; Dr. Mark Weinblatt; faith; Maria Kavan and the staff of the Cancer Center for Kids; love; Mayor Jean Celender and the Village of Great Neck Plaza's department of public works; a sunny new day; miracles; truth, and so much more, then you believe in the spirit of the Great Neck community and all those who came together on a beautiful Sunday, May 7, to celebrate the 5th annual 5K family fun run/walk held at Jonathan L. Ielpi Firefighters Park. The money raised at the May 7 event will benefit Winthrop-University Hospital's Cancer Center for Kids located in Mineola.
Winthrop's Cancer Center for Kids is an exceptional, state-of-the-science facility, where children are given the best possible chance for recovery through superior medical care, constant nurturing and unconditional support in an environment that promotes healing.
