In July of 2005, Great Neck South lost one of its most inspiring alumni, Erica Lauren Kutcher. In last week's issue, a longer version of this story ran, however the contact information was inadvertently deleted.

This year, a scholarship program is beginning in Erica L. Kutcher's memory.

The scholarship will be awarded to an ambitious graduating high school senior with passion and a true quest for character in mind, body and spirit. The award recipient will possess a strong sense of his or her own individual beliefs and values, while remaining a dedicated and involved member of the Great Neck South community. Most importantly, the recipient of this award will be a student who is extremely accepting of others and who exemplifies the kindheartedness, integrity and joy that made Erica Kutcher so special.

We are actively seeking donations both for a memorial bench in Erica's name and for a yearly scholarship for a deserving student at Great Neck South High School.

If you are interested in making a donation, please make checks out to "Great Neck Public Schools." Include "Erica Kutcher Scholarship" in the check memo, and mail to childhood and family friend, Sharon Bechor, 215 East 24th Street, Apt 101, New York, NY 10010
