Julia Gavriel Won With Only 47 Votes -- In a probable history-making election on the Great Neck peninsula, Saddle Rock resident Julia Gavriel won a position on the village's board of trustees with a write-in campaign. Ms. Gavriel received 47 write-in votes, while incumbent trustee Gila Aizer, whose name was on the ballot, received only 27 votes. Alan M. Freedman won his first term as a trustee with 61 votes. The LI2Day Breast Cancer Walk, an organization dedicated to raising awareness and funding for the fight against breast cancer on Long Island, has announced that its 3rd annual 2-Day Breast Cancer Walk will take place on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4. The walk will begin, and end, at Smith Point County Park in Shirley.
