Officially announced on Thursday, Jan. 5, the prestigious Don Hansen Football Gazette released the NCAA Division III East All-Region Team, which features four United States Merchant Marine Academy Football Mariners.

The nation's top D-III kicker, Geoff Troy, earned his sixth honor of the season upon being named to the First-Team Offense. Troy was brilliant over the course of his rookie campaign en route to being named a D3Football.com First-Team All-East Region and First-Team All-American, First-Team ECAC Division III Northwest All-Star, Liberty League Specialist of the Year and First-team All-Star.

Troy went 18-for-21 in field goal attempts with his long coming during week-two at Claremont Mudd-Scripps of a 42-yard field goal. He started the season 12-for-12 before suffering his first miss (block) in overtime versus Union in week-five. The Gainesville, Florida native led the team with 66 points. He ranked fifth in overall scoring and first among kickers in the conference. As a result of his accuracy, the Mariners ranked first in field goal and PAT kicking, in addition to red zone efficiency. He earned six weekly honors over the Honorable Mention team along with teammate Justin Eusepi.

Dore earned First-Team Liberty League honors finished second on the team with 67 tackles (48 solo), including a half sack and four tackles for a loss of 12 yards. He picked off three passes with 76 return yards, broke up a team-best seven tackles and recovered a fumble. He made the biggest play of possibly his career versus St. Lawrence in the Third Annual Hoffman Cup where he blocked a punt, which resulted in the game-winning score with less than a minute remaining.

This honor marks Eusepi's first post-season award. The junior defensive lineman was third on the team with 56 tackles. He notched 14 stops for a loss of 60 yards, including 3.5 sacks and an interception to boot.

USMMA concluded the 2005 campaign with a 3-7 record, but ended the season on a high note with wins in both "Cup" games versus St. Lawrence (Hoffman) and the United States Coast Guard Academy (Secretaries Cup).
