North Hempstead Town Officials Hold Gala Inaugural Ceremony
The Clinton Martin Park Recreational Center in New Hyde Park was packed and abuzz with jubilation as hundreds of people filed in to witness the swearing-in ceremonies of the Town of North Hempstead supervisor, Jon Kaiman, Town Clerk Michelle Schimel and Councilmembers Angelo Ferrara and Robert Trioiano and Lee Seeman last Monday afternoon.
Plaza Announces First Peninsula Affordable Housing Legislation
The Village of Great Neck Plaza Board of Trustees, at its last meeting of the 2005 year, Dec. 21, adopted landmark legislation establishing an inclusionary affordable housing program that became effective Jan. 1, 2006. Adoption of this historic legislation also ended a temporary moratorium on the construction/conversion of multiple dwellings that had been in place in the village since March 2005 in order to study the feasibility of providing a workforce housing program, which included planning studies and environmental impact assessments conducted by the village's planning/environmental consultants, Saccardi & Schiff of White Plains, NY.
Four Mariners Earn Football Gazette East Region Honors
Officially announced on Thursday, Jan. 5, the prestigious Don Hansen Football Gazette released the NCAA Division III East All-Region Team, which features four United States Merchant Marine Academy Football Mariners.
