Park District Election: Voting Breakdown
Incumbent Ivar Segalowitz won re-election as commissioner of the Great Neck Park District on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Mr. Segalowitz garnered a total of 934 votes. His opponent Raymond Plakstis Jr. received 434 votes and opponent Sheila Penn received 142 votes.

Incumbent David L. Lurie won re-election as commissioner of the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District (WPCD) on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Mr. Lurie received 545 votes and his opponent J. Leonard Samansky received 294 votes.

New Athletic Conference for USMMA
The presidents of eight colleges and universities have announced the formation of a new NCAA Division III athletics conference. The members of the new conference will compete in all sports other than football. The conference, yet to be named, will begin competition in the fall of 2007.

Outstanding Physical Education Students
Great Neck South High School seniors Geoffrey R. Gouterman and Jessica Rush have been selected by their school's physical education department as the "outstanding physical education student of the year." The students are being recognized by the Nassau Zone of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education Recreation and Dance. One young man and one young woman in the graduation class of 2006 from each Nassau County high school will be honored.
