On Friday, Oct 28 at 7 p.m. at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Great Neck's Olympic ice skating champion Sarah Hughes will star in a special performance to benefit Stars, Stripes & Skates; the 9-11 Families Give Back Fund, a nonprofit organization "that promotes continued awareness of 9-11-01."
Also, starring in the one-night spectacular ice show are professional skaters: Alexei Yagudin, Todd Eldredge, Stephane Lambiel and many other great figure skaters in the world. And, when the winners of the 2005 Stars, Stripes & Skates Future Talent Search events from five states in the east coast area glide onto the ice these young skaters will dazzle the audience with a patriotic number to remember September 11, 2001. In addition, Ashanti Long Island's beautiful singing sensation will entertain fans on this memorable evening where the past will be remembered and the future celebrated.
For Sarah Hughes, presently a sophomore at Yale College, coming home to Long Island evokes warm memories where her skating career began at three years, and she said: "One of the reasons I am so excited about this show is because I get to perform at Nassau Coliseum which is accessible to all my Great Neck friends and family who have supported me through the years and shared in this wonderful journey," and added, "I hope to see them all in the audience."
