Schools Overview for Local Officials
Local officials were treated to a most informative evening last Wednesday, as they listened to a very thorough update on the state of our schools as well as a very comprehensive report on curriculum. Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education President Lawrence Gross and Terry Horowitz, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, addressed the Great Neck Village Officials Association meeting, both managing to touch on all aspects of the school district, both offering a very positive, upbeat picture.

School District Properties Update
"We have spent about $2 million for this year on our buildings and our property, allocated from the school board," School District Consultant David Kincaid reported at the recent Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education meeting. Mr. Kincaid presented a report on the district's physical properties, explaining that much of the work must be completed during the 10-week summer vacation period.

Hadassah Tennis Fundraiser for Stem Cell Research
Great Neck Hadassah's recent Wildwood Pool and Tennis Club ProAm Tournament was a huge success. More than $8,600 was raised to benefit stem cell research at the Goldyne Savad Institute of Gene Therapy at Hadassah Hospital in Israel.

South Swimmers Capture Fourth Consecutive Division Title
On Thursday, Sept. 29, the Great Neck South Girls Swim Team captured its fourth consecutive division title. Previous to their winning streak beginning in 2002, the team had never before won a division title.
