Friends of the Parks Award to Senator Balboni
New York State Senator Michael Balboni was presented with the Great Neck Park District's "Friends of the Parks" award. First elected to the Senate, after serving eight years in the Assembly, Senator Balboni represents the 7th Senate District, which is located in the northwest corner of Nassau County on Long Island. The district encompasses the entire town of North Hempstead, including the Great Neck peninsula and the park district.

Jon Kaiman Addresses NCVOA
"Welcome to the Town of North Hempstead," said North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman as he welcomed Nassau County Village Officials Association members to the September meeting at La Marmite restaurant in Williston Park last week. Presenting an energetic, quick run through town issues, Supervisor Kaiman noted that he has "the greatest job" where he can affect the daily lives of residents.

NC Field Hockey Tournament a Success
If you believe in good luck positive things do happen. And on Saturday, Sept. 10 at Parkwood at the third annual Nassau County 6 on 6 field hockey tournament the sun shone down on this beautiful day while 24 hockey teams once again came together to remember Joan Grunebaum, a teacher, coach and friend. This is the third consecutive year we all prayed for a clear day, and thankfully, Mother Nature again gave us more than we could have hoped for on this end-of-summer day.

Great Neck Wolverines Place in Tournament
The Great Neck Wolverines Boys U10 soccer team placed second in the Oceanside Labor Day Tournament. Their preseason intensive training of three hours per day for five days, dedication, teamwork and enthusiasm all contributed to their success. League games began on Sept. 10. The Great Neck Wolverines look forward to a challenging and fun season!
