Town and Arts Center Provide Town-wide Events
First Is Family Day at Bar Beach on Sept. 18 --
North Hempstead Town and Great Neck Arts Center officials are working on producing a number of events open to all residents of the town. The unique partnership would bring arts center programs in music, art, dance and theater to park and beach facilities throughout the town.

UCF to Present Tea for Three: Lady Bird, Pat & Betty
Benefit Performance on Sunday, October 9 --
The United Community Fund of Great Neck and North New Hyde Park will present a production of Tea for Three: Lady Bird, Pat & Betty on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater in Port Washington. The theater is located inside the historic Landmark on Main Street.

Plans Underway for LI's Largest Breast Cancer Awareness Event
The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at Jones Beach will be held on Oct. 16. Making Strides is Long Island's largest breast cancer awareness event, drawing tens of thousands of Long Islanders together to raise funds for the search for a cure and to honor survivors and those lost to the disease. Plans for this year's 12th Annual American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk are underway.

American Heart Association Names 5-Year-Old Red Cap Ambassador
Long Island resident Nicole McGuigan, a 5-year-old survivor of open heart surgery when she was just three weeks old, has been named the Red Cap Survivor Ambassador of the American Heart Association's Long Island Heart Walk. The Heart Walk returns to Long Island on Sunday, Oct. 2, at Nassau Community College.
