LINS Heritage Area Management Plan Proposal
Long Island's North Shore, including Great Neck and the entire Town of North Hempstead, will soon have the opportunity to further protect and preserve its cultural and natural resources. As permitted by state law, a volunteer planning commission has developed the Long Island North Shore Heritage Area (LINSHA) Management Plan and all 64 municipalities in the area must vote on the plan by Dec. 31, 2006.

Jay's World 'Walk with Me' to Benefit Childhood Cancer Coming in September
On Sunday, Sept 18, Jason Napolitano, president of Jay's World Childhood Cancer Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit organization announces the first annual Jay's World "Walk with Me" event to be held at Mineola Park in Mineola. Dedicated volunteers, walkers and the directors of Jay's World will once again come together to continue on in their mission "to raise funds to benefit children and help support the fight against childhood cancer." Those participating in the 3-mile walk will walk alongside a cancer survivor whose life has been changed by Jay's World. Registration is at 9 a.m., the walk begins at 10 a.m.
