The Wildwood Pool and Tennis Club Pro Am Tournament to benefit Hadassah will be held this Sunday, July 31. The popular event provides an opportunity for local players to team up with the area's top teaching professionals in a competitive round-robin format.

The tournament will be held from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Wildwood Pool and Tennis Club in Kings Point. To participate, a minimum rating of 4.0 is required, plus the tax deductible $150 entry fee. Both men and women players are welcome.

Wildwood's head pro, Mo Ridaoui, is very excited to run the event. "We have some great players who are coming out to play this summer. The level of tennis to watch will be amazing, and we are adding a short exhibition by a few of the top pros," he said. This year, for the first time, there will be fun tennis games for the whole family with prizes, including a radar gun to measure the fastest serve and tennis target practice.

Admission on the day of the ProAm will be free, and there are tournament sponsorship opportunities available. The support of sponsors, including Cooperman Lester Miller LLP, Attorneys at Law; Great Neck Podiatry Associates; and the Goldfarb, Ehren, Appel, and Zeitlin families will contribute to the day's overall success.

Laurence Goldfarb, president of Wildwood Pool and Tennis Club, will be one of the players. "Wildwood is the perfect setting to play with some of the best players in town," he said. "Not only will there be competitive tennis to watch, but there will also be raffle prizes, snacks and a chance to enjoy a wonderful day with the tennis community as they support the important works of Hadassah."

Proceeds from the event will benefit stem cell research at the Goldyne Savad Institute of Gene Therapy at Hadassah Hospital. "This is a wonderful way to support scientists who are making tremendous strides in their efforts to discover new ways of bringing hope to millions of patients with life threatening diseases," said Brenda Korff, Hadassah board member and co-chair of this event.

To register to play in the tournament or become a sponsor, call Mr. Ridaoui, at 917-213-2727 or the Wildwood Pool and Tennis Club at 466-4490. Each participant will receive a commemorative shirt.
