Seeman Designated for Town Council
At the Nassau Democratic Committee Convention held on June 1, local Democratic Committee members voted unanimously to designate longtime Great Neck activist Lee Seeman as the candidate in North Hempstead's Fifth Council District. Seeman was nominated to succeed Councilman Tony D'Urso who is not seeking re-election after serving on the North Hempstead Town Board since 1992.

Great Neck Bicycle ChallGreat Neck Bicycle Challenge Draws Crowdenge Draws Crowd
The fourth Great Neck Bicycle Challenge lived up to its billing, attracting over 200 United States and International Cycling Federation riders on Sunday, May 15. They competed for $8,000 in prizes in five races of 15 and 30 miles around a .6 mile loop circling the Jonathan Ielpi Firefighter's Park.

Heating Up the Ice at the Stergiopoulos Ice Rink
The year 2005 introduced the longest skating season in 30 years to park district residents at the Andrew Stergiopolous Skating Rink. More than 400 skate school students skated through April 17 --- and members of the Great Neck Figure Skating Club were on the ice until May 1! Remarkable progress was seen during this, the longest skating season in Parkwood's history, due, in part, to longer class time and smaller class ratios. Parents benefited as well because the longer season encouraged skating at a fraction of the cost.
