Daruma Celebrates 20 Years in Great Neck!
For the entire week, Yoshi will be celebrating with raffle prizes each night. The ever-popular Masa will be serving his sushi specialties and greeting old friends after 5 p.m. on May 16, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22. Masa was a true super star at Daruma for his 12-year run, before he left to open his own restaurant in California with another former Daruma sushi chef, Iwa.
Time to Vote: Library Budget for 2006
On Tuesday, May 17, eligible voters will be asked to approve the 2006 library budget of $7,857,500 reflecting an increase of $258,300 from the 2005 budget. Voters north of the Long Island Rail Road will vote at E.M. Baker School and those living south will vote at South High School between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Great Neck Bicycle Challenge This Sunday
The sixth grade students of the Great Neck North Middle School were startled to see racing bicycle champion Billy Bauer demonstrate his unique style by riding up and down the aisles of the auditorium on his racing bike! Speaking about bicycle safety, Billy urged the students first and foremost to wear a helmet and obey the rules of the road.
Sandi Kafenbaum Goes to Two-Day Breast Cancer Walk
Six volunteers and staff members of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program will be joining hundreds of other Long Islanders to raise money for breast cancer organizations on Long Island. The event is the Second Annual 2 Day Walk to Fight Breast Cancer to be held on June 4 and 5, and the walkers, each pledging to raise more than $1000 toward the event, will participate in a trek that will take them 35 miles through Suffolk County.
