Once again, New York State has released its Úquot;infamousÚquot; school district report cards. And, once again, of course, they released only the statistics, not the full picture. We are truly proud that the Great Neck Public Schools consistently place very high on each state mandated test at each mandated grade level. We just regret that the tests do not tell the full story, that statistics are often terribly skewed and that there are very different populations tested throughout the school districts. And we really, really regret that each child, no matter if he or she speaks English, no matter if the child has some major disability, that child absolutely must be tested. Yes, we are proud that our results are quite good, but we join our school district in agonizing over the real story behind these report cards. I don't know who is the winner in this new test, test, test environment, but I am positive that it isn't our children.
