New GNPS Assistant Superintendent Named
At the March 21, meeting of the board of education, the appointment of Dr. Dennis Ryan as Assistant Superintendent for Special Education and Pupil Services of the Great Neck Public Schools, effective July 1, 2005, was unanimously approved by the board. Dr. Ryan will replace Dr. Natalie Fulwider, who will retire at the end of this school year. Dr. Ronald Friedman, superintendent of schools, provided some background information on the position and introduced Dr. Ryan.
Equinox Gym Proposal Jogs Toward Finish Line
The proposal to construct an Equinox gym on the corner of East Shore Road and Manhasset Creek Road is being moved by Thomaston village officials on a fast track. Mayor Bob Stern adjourned a public hearing on the matter on March 23 in 10 minutes just as this reporter raised her hand to ask a few questions and shooed everyone out of the village hall saying, "We have to save electricity."
Great Neck Special Olympics Coming Up!
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and bouncing balls are ricocheting off the baskets in Great Neck North Middle's gym on Friday nights, from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. This can only mean that spring is here and the Special Olympics has started up again.
