Terry Horowitz Named School District Assistant Superintendent
At the Jan. 10, meeting of the board of education, the appointment of Manuela (Terry) Horowitz as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction of the Great Neck Public Schools, effective March 1, 2005, was unanimously approved by the board. President Lawrence Gross called on Dr. Ronald Friedman, superintendent of schools, to provide information on the position, the selection process, and Ms. Horowitz's experience as an educator.

Jesse's Story: Lend Us a Hand to Raise a Leg
This last Thanksgiving, the dozen people sitting around my table were very thankful. We were all truly grateful that my nephew, Jesse Levine, was there to share the holiday with us, and that he had been able to walk into my home. It was the first time I had seen Jesse standing in four months, and my first chance for a full body hug. Walking into someone's house, and standing up to be hugged, may not sound like much, but in Jesse's case, it was nothing short of a miracle.

USMMA Women's Basketball
Farmingdale State (9-3, 6-0) used a 35-12 run in the final 15 minutes of the contest to remain perfect in Skyline Conference play with a 70-50 win over the US Merchant Marine Academy. Four players scored in double figures for the Rams, who were led by junior Kristen Tong's game-high 18 points.
