"It's going to be a good year, an interesting year," U.S. Rep. Gary Ackerman told the large gathering of elected officials, friends and family at his annual holiday party at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. With over 650,000 constituents in his fifth congressional district, Congressman Ackerman represents parts of Nassau County and Queens. A Democrat with a long history in Congress, he ranks high on the list of many committees and travels the world, meeting with a host of officials in just about every part of the globe.
School District 2005-06 Budget Events
The Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education announced its schedule of 2005-2006 budget events, beginning with a working session when the board meets with the representatives of the G.N.T.A. (Great Neck Teachers Association) and the U.P.T.C. (United Parent Teacher Council), to discuss their concerns, on Thursday, Jan. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Phipps Administration Building at 345 Lakeville Road in Lake Success.

USMMA's Fitzgerald Named 2004 NSCAA/adidas Northeast Regional Assistant Coach of the Year
No less than five individuals associated with the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy soccer team have now been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in the last couple of weeks, as the Mariners learned Tuesday (Dec. 21) that associate head coach, John Fitzgerald has been named the association's inaugural NSCAA/adidas Northeast Regional Assistant Coach of the Year.
