Senior co-captains Marcial Alzugaray and Joe Meagher and senior keeper James Papazis were each named one of the NCAA Division III All-Metro Region Teams. Meagher was selected First Team All-Metro Region, while Alzugaray was named to the Second team and Papazis was named to the Third Team.

"Coach Fitzgerald, Coach Beauchamp and I are very pleased to have three players named to the all-region team this year," said head coach Michael Smolens. "It is a reflection of the team and the success we experienced this season. All three grew up playing against one another in high school and club ball, this cap's off four terrific years of soccer at Kings Point."

Meagher, who was named to the First Team for the second time in as many years, was the anchor of a Mariners defense that allowed just 0.68 goals per game, while netting three goals of his own. He was looked to as the team leader both on and off the field and could always be counted on to make a play when the pressure was on.

"Joe personifies our school's motto, "acta non verba, deeds not words," said Smolens. "For the second straight year he served as one of our co-captains and was our most valuable player. He led the team both offensively and on defense from his position in the midfield. His statistics don't always show his value to the team, but his selection to the all-region first team is an example of how others feel about his play."

Alzugaray had his best season as a senior as he led the Blue and Gray in scoring with a team high eight goals and three assists for 19 points. He was also one of the team's top defensive players, often making a defensive stop and then pushing the ball the other way to generate a scoring opportunity.

"The improvement Marcial has made in the last two years is a testimony to his attitude and his effort," said Smolens. "Marcial served as one of our co-captains this season, and his calm demeanor and strong decision making often kept our team under control. When the game was on the line, Marcial was usually in the center of the action."

Papazis posted a 14-2-0 record in his first season as the starting goalkeeper for Kings Point. He recorded six shutouts with a 0.81 goals against average and a .818 save percentage. He had several outstanding games during the course of the season, making him a key factor in the team's success.

"James faced a number of obstacles since arriving here at Kings Point and has worked to meet these challenges," said Smolens. "James came up big in a number of matches for the team this year, and was one of the keys to our success. Coach Beauchamp, who worked with our goalkeepers this season, had a big role in helping James achieve this honor this season."

The Mariners went 19-3 in 2004, tying the school record for wins in a season, and appeared in the Skyline Conference Championship game for the third consecutive season.
