Portnoy Family Raises Money for Children's Hospital
"I credit St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children with giving Zachary back his life," says Robin Portnoy, a Great Neck mother of four beautiful little boys, one of whom has come through years of fighting a life-threatening illness. For their own personal "thank you," the Portnoy family raised over $12,000 for St. Mary's second annual walk, the highest individual walk donations.
Looks Like One-Family Zoning for Steamboat Road
The Village of Great Neck appears set to rezone parts of Steamboat Road to residential, one-family housing, where a combination of commercial/residential zoning is now in place. To date, several zoning combinations have failed to see a revitalization of that area of the Old Village, and the most recent proposal from a developer went so far as to request a rezoning to four-family housing. The board of trustees listened carefully to residents at a public discussion on Dec. 7, and when one and all called for one-family houses, the board set plans in motion to rezone quickly. A public hearing is anticipated for Jan. 18.
