Florence Bromley, a longtime Great Neck resident, died on June 15 2004, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, following a short illness. She established the Florence Bromley Real Estate office, and after many years, sold her business to establish a new non-real estate company, Florence Bromley, Inc. in Fort Lauderdale. Florence was a very strong and successful businesswoman, always concerned about people and helping whenever she could. She served as president of the Great Neck Real Estate Board, chair of UCF, Chamber of Commerce board member and Great Neck Symphony board member. She was honored by Great Neck on Oct. 26, 1990 and honored as the Great Neck Kiwanis Club "Great Neck Kiwanian of the Year" on the same date. Worldwide, she was the first female member of Kiwanis. Also, for many years, she was a senior member of the Coral Ridge Yacht Club. Florence had a great full life and will be deeply missed by her family, friends and hundreds of people whom her life touched. She is survived by her husband, C. Ross Jacobs; two daughter, Barbara Bromley and Susan Merriman; son-in-law, T.J. Merriman; four grandsons, Sean, Thomas and Michael; two great-granddaughters, Tina and Jamie; a sister, Mary Viitasaari and her family, Diane, Ellard, Heather, Brenda, Amy, David and Jack. There will be a graveside memorial on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2 p.m., at All Saints Cemetery, 855 Middle Neck Road, Great Neck.
