The Empress of Iran: In the Presence of Royalty
When Her Majesty Farah Pahlavi, the Empress of Iran, walked into the room you knew you were in the presence of royalty. The last Empress of Iran greeted hundreds of her fellow countrymen last week at a reception and book signing at Queens College. Regal and elegant, a beautiful woman with a touch of sadness in her eyes, the Empress was most approachable at a small, private opening reception and disarmingly honest, incredibly knowledgeable, during the public program that followed, as she discussed her book, An Enduring Love, My Life with the Shah, "A Memoir," and answered questions both in English and in Farci.
GNVOA Moves Forward With Emergency Planning
"We are two steps away from a table top with our emergency management plan,"; Lake Success Mayor Robert Bernstein told his fellow local officials at the Oct. 20 Great Neck Village Officials Association meeting. Mayor Bernstein, who serves as GNVOA president, has done much during his 14 months as president to move forward with the peninsula's emergency disaster plan implementation.

There was an interesting article recently in the Sunday New York Times discussing the appropriate age for participation in travel teams (for many people, to read as more competitive) sports. The Great Neck Soccer Club has attempted to establish the proper environment for children to participate and the club believes we have achieved a balance for those who are indeed interested.
