When a family in Beachwood, Ohio heads for the city's Aquatic Center, each family member has multiple choices upon arrival. Tots head for a separate pool area designed just for them where they may enjoy the modern day equivalent of running through the water sprinkler; elementary children zoom over to the thrilling vortex or the waterslides; teens may congregate around the one-meter or three-meter diving boards and practice the backflip; mom begins her workout by walking against the current in the "lazy river" and dad, with his bum knee, may choose to exercise on the hydrotherapy water bench, plus there is even swimming in the 25-meter lap lanes. Some communities also opt for waterfalls, chutes, simulated wave beaches, aesthetically pleasing landscapes and many have utilized plenty of shade structures over the water play areas.
USMMA Football's Fuhrman Named Liberty League Co-Defensive Performer of the Week
The Liberty League announced Monday afternoon, Oct. 4, that United States Merchant Marine Academy outside linebacker Matt Fuhrman has been named its Co-Defensive Performer of the Week. The senior co-captain shares the award with Rensselaer's Sean Doran.
Great Neck Road Runners Advance to Third Round of State Cup
The Great Neck Road Runners U12 soccer club has won their first two State Cup matches. On Sept. 19, playing on the road against the Kings Park Titans, the Road Runners won their most exciting match in their three year history. At the end of regulation time the match was all even at 1-1. After two 10, minute overtime periods in which both teams could not score the game went to a shoot out.
