Robert Morrison

Robert Morrison, a longtime administrator in the Great Neck Public Schools, died on Aug. 19. Mr. Morrison, who had retired from the school district in 1999, served the district for 42 years, as a teacher, coach, department head, building administrator and central administrator. He began in 1957 as a physical education teacher at North High, a position he held for 21 years before heading the department from 1977 to 1978. At North High he also served as assistant principal for several years and coached at the school, earning many honors. In 1978 Mr. Morrison was named district coordinator of physical education and recreation and in 1979 he became school district director of health, physical education and recreation, a position he held for 12 years. Next he served as district director of health, physical education, recreation and transportation, responsible for the safe, daily bus transit of thousand of students. Bob Morrison also served on numerous committees throughout the district and won many awards. He is survived by his wife, Carole; children Patti Hodder of New Hyde Park, Kevin Morrison of West Babylon, a brother, and three grandchildren.
