Meet the Library Board Candidates on October 12
John Drukker would like to finish the job he started. For the past 4 years, Mr. Drukker has served on the seven-member library board, which has given him an opportunity to learn the nuts and bolts of providing guidance and oversight in running a modern library. The library's Nominating Committee has endorsed him for another term. He says that he was a regular library patron who simply decided that after his retirement, he would like to do something meaningful for the library.

Suozzi Reviews His Plans for Nassau
"What's the biggest problem local government faces?" Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi asked his audience, as he addressed the third anniversary meeting of the Great Neck Co-op & Condominium Council last Monday evening, Sept. 20. The issue, Mr. Suozzi said, is taxes. Accompanied by County Comptroller Howard Weitzman and Board of Assessors Chairman Harvey Levinson, the county executive presented a lively review of his tenure to date.

USMMA Women's Volleyball Goes 1-2 at Garnet Classic
The US Merchant Marine Academy women's volleyball team defeated Kean (NJ) 3-0 as they went 1-2 at the Swarthmore Garnet Classic. Junior tri-captain Holly Cummings put in a standout performance for the Blue and Gray, scoring 43 kills with 59 digs defensively.

USMMA Cross Country Results
The US Merchant Marine Academy men's cross country team placed 12th, out of 27 teams, at the NYU Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park. Sophomore John Stockert (Dover, Ohio/Dover) finished in 54th position (28:58.5) to pace the Blue and Gray.
