The Nassau Region of Hadassah will be holding its annual Women's Golf, Tennis and Games Day on Monday, Sept. 20, at the Fresh Meadow Country Club in Lake Success.

Front row (left to right): Shelley Harris (Manhasset), Gloria Kramer, president (Merrick), Linda Alhante (Valley Stream), Barbara Baumstein (Great Neck), Marjorie Lobman (Laurel Hollow). Back row: Lynn Falkove (East Norwich), Shari Garfinkel (Great Neck), Amy Block (Muttontown), Leah Monosson (Oyster Bay Cove), Barbara Smiler (Jericho), Ricki Kleinberg (Neck) and Brenda Korff (Great Neck).

Fourteen years ago, Ruth Karlin gave birth to the Nassau Region Golf, Tennis and Games Day. She then coordinated this event with love and dedication that she was able to raise tens of thousands of dollars for the Hadassah Medical Organization yearly. These funds have been used to help find a cure for breast cancer as well as research on genetic diseases. Therefore, it is most fitting that this year's event honors Ruth.

Ruth has been an integral part of Hadassah for many years. First as a president in Glen Cove and she subsequently held portfolios on the Nassau Region executive board as area vice president, membership and fund-raising coordinator, major gifts and founders chair and organization vice president.

Ruth has also raised money for UJA and for 22 years has served as vice president of advertising and promotions in her family business.

Now entering its 14th year, the funds raised from this event will help to complete construction of the new Center for Emergency Medicine at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem by equipping the pediatric emergency unit with the latest state-of-the-art medical equipment. The youngest and most innocent victims of accident, injury or terrorism deserve the finest care available.

Gloria Kramer of Merrick, president of Nassau Region of Hadassah, says, "This event is one of our most important fund-raising events we hold each year." Linda Alhante of Valley Stream, along with her co-Chair Barbara Baumstein of Great Neck, welcome all to attend. Sponsorship opportunities, as well as tee signs are available and early reservations are highly recommended.

For reservations or information, please contact the Nassau Region office at 766-2725. Hadassah, the women's Zionist Organization of America, is the largest Jewish, Zionist and women's organization in the United States and supports the Hadassah Medical Organization in Jerusalem. Hadassah programs also include health education and services, social action and advocacy, Jewish education and forging partnerships with Israel.
