(Editor's Note: As school is about to open, the Great Neck Record is publishing the Great Neck Public School's school calendar for the 2004 to 2005 school year, as set by the board of education.)

School will open for the 2004-05 school year on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004. (Prior to the school's opening day, there will be two Superintendent's Conference Days, on Wednesday, Sept. 1 and Thursday, Sept. 2. Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 6.)

School will be closed for Rosh Hashanah on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 16 and 17. School will then be closed in October for Columbus Day, on Monday, Oct. 11.

In November 2004, there will be a Superintendent's Conference Day on Tuesday, Nov. 2 and school will be closed. School will also be closed in November on Thursday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans Day. Thanksgiving Recess is Thursday and Friday, Nov. 25 and 26. School reopens on Monday, Nov. 29.

In December, school is closed for Holiday Recess from Friday, Dec. 24 through Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005. (School closes at the close of the school day on Thursday, Dec. 23 and reopens on Monday, Jan. 3, 2005.) School will be closed for Martin Luther King Day on Monday, Jan. 17, 2005.

School closes again for Winter Recess the week of Feb. 21 to Feb. 25, 2005. School closes at the end of the day on Friday, Feb. 18 and reopens on Monday, Feb. 28.

For Easter Recess, school is closed on Thursday and Friday, March 24 and 25, 2005.

For Spring Recess, school is closed the week of April 25 to April 29, 2005. School closes at the end of the day on Friday, April 22 and reopens on Monday, May 2.

School is closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 30.

The last day of school for the 2004-2005 school year is Friday, June 24, 2005.
