Great Neck Chamber of Commerce member Phil Bee (aka/ Phil Badner), 80, died on Aug. 1, following a heroic fight with pancreatic cancer. A memorial service is scheduled for Aug. 30, at 4 p.m. in Great Neck.

Phil Bee was born in Poland and his parents immigrated to the US. Phil was a member of the US Air Force for four years. He worked for many years as a New State corrections officer in Brooklyn. He married and had one daughter Helene.

Phil was an avid music lover who played the piano and guitar and whose love of music became evident when he wrote the words of a few songs for singer songwriter Jimmy Roselli. A few of his songs became hits. Phil loved the spotlight. His continuing relationship with longtime friend Joe Franklin and Richie Ornstein gave him some of his news for his newspaper columns in the Great Neck News, where Phil did advertising and wrote two columns.

Phil Bee's kindness was in his deeds.
