A referendum addressing the question of whether to radically expand and renovate the Great Neck Library Main Branch will be postponed beyond the initially proposed September voting date. The earliest and most likely time for the referendum would be in either December or January. FULL STORY

Dr. James R. Welsch has been selected as the new principal for Great Neck South Middle School. Dr. Welsch will take over during the summer, replacing retiring principal Sal Lipari. When Alex Federico, pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds walked to the pitchers' mound, faced the batter of the Chicago Cubs, focused, and threw the baseball with perfect control and speed, Federico upset the batter's timing and struck out all three players. Great Neck South Senior High School students Brian and David Burstein are organizing a junior golf tournament to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Metro New York. The tournament, to be held at the Lake Success Village Golf Course on Monday, Aug. 30, will be open to junior golfers 12 to 18 years of age in the Long Island, Westchester and Metro NY region.
