Please be sure to vote in the upcoming school district election next week, on Tuesday, May 18. Vote for the school budget and vote to re-elect trustee Fran Langsner (running unopposed).
Our schools are consistently ranked at the top of every single list, nationwide. All of our children receive a top-notch education, presented in a variety of ways, to suit the special needs of each and every child. A wealth of advanced placement and enrichment courses satisfy the highest-achieving students. For those youngsters for whom the learning process does not come easily, they are offered specific programs and individualized instruction. And all students have the opportunity to enjoy a truly wide range of extra-curricular activities as well as before and after school study and homework centers.
Unfortunately, ever increasing state and federal mandates, coupled with shrinking state aid, have forced budget increases. The major portion of the school budget, close to three fourths of the budget, is still devoted to instruction, to teaching our children. It is quite amazing, in light of this strong outside pressure and pitiful lack of proper support, that our school district, our board of education and our superintendent, can still maintain high standards of excellence in education.
Please do your part in keeping the "great" in our Great Neck Public Schools. Support the school budget with your vote!
Don't know where to vote? Again, school district elections are on Tuesday, May 18, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., at the E. M. Baker Elementary School (the new election site for voters who live north of the LIRR) and at South High School, for voters who live south of the LIRR.
Vote for our children! Vote for our future! Vote in support of our school district budget!
