Ice cools the heat of summer: flavors raspberry or orange in a smooth sorbet.
Slivers dance within your favorite beverage
As they whisper, "drink me, I'm the pause that brings refreshment to your busy day."
Those welcome fragments in your glass
Change shape and size as seasons pass,
And in the cold of winter,
Ice alters plans and makes of me a shut-in.
It does nothing but harass
Those who would walk with freedom
Along the many pathways that they looked on as their own.
Alas dear fall and summer, how swiftly you have flown.
