Town Considering Park District Bond Request
A $3.8 million Great Neck Park District bond devoted to infrastructure needs is now before the North Hempstead town board. Although the proposed bond issue was extensively reviewed at park district hearings and received much publicity in local newspapers, a large crowd turned up at the town board meeting on March 30, many claiming that a state mandated postcard for that night's hearing was their first word on the bond issue.

Old Village Zoning Board Ponders Apartment Building Proposal
The five-member board of zoning appeals (BZA) for the Village of Great Neck will continue deliberations at its May 6 meeting on whether to grant the application of developer Frank Lalazarian of Oxford Developers to build a 3-story rental apartment building on the northwest corner of Arrandale Avenue and Middle Neck Road, on a parcel that is a collection of lots that is currently zoned for business and single family dwellings.

Excitement Building for Cancer Center for Kids 5k Family Fun Walk/Run
With the memories of the seemingly never-ending snow now fading, and with Spring embracing us, Winthrop University Hospital's Cancer Center for Kids Third Annual "5k Family Walk/Run," to be held on Sunday, May 2, is almost at hand. Thanks to the selfless support of corporate sponsors, merchants and participants, this year's Walk/Run, is promising to be the most varied and exciting one yet! Baseball Drops Road Doubleheader to Manhattanville
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy baseball team dropped the first game of a Skyline Conference opener and doubleheader versus Manhattanville College, Saturday afternoon, March 27, in a 3-2, extra-innings contest, while in game two, falling victims to a tough Valiants pitching force, losing, 2-1.
