Anthony Carbone Looks for Growth at Chamber of Commerce
With a strong business background and a sound vision for Great Neck's business community, Anthony Carbone takes over the lead at the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce. Installed as president earlier this year, Mr. Carbone (from Systematic Control Corp.) is determined to see the chamber expand, in terms of both membership and the infrastructure of the organization.
2005 Library Budget to Increase by 4.8 Percent
Tonight the library board is expected to vote to approve the library's 2005 budget proposal that totals $7,265,300. The residential library tax rate will rise from the 2004 budget to the new budget from $4.65 to $4.87 and the average library tax rate will go from $6.73 to $7.05. The library's fiscal year coincides with the calendar year.
Nine-Run Fifth Inning Lifts Mariners Baseball to First Victory Of 2004
A seven-hit, nine-run fifth inning helped lift the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy baseball team over Lehman College, Tuesday afternoon, March 23, in a Mariners 11-4, home-opener victory at Lower Roosevelt Field. The victory was the Mariners' first win of the year.
Spring Break Slam Jam Camp at USMMA
The United States Merchant Marine Academy men's basketball coaching staff is holding the eighth annual Kings Point Spring Slam Jam Basketball and Sports Camp. The camp is held April 5 to 9, and runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This spring's camp includes basketball, football, soccer, Frisbee, waffle ball, dance and recreational swimming. Campers will be instructed in the activity of choice and will take part in many games and contests. Special activities include beat the counselor, a super start competition and the awards ceremony. Each camper receives a t-shirt, an AND1 Sports Bag, and an AND1 Key Chain. Additional prizes will be given out throughout the week.
