Opening the Way for East Shore Road Redevelopment
Paving the way for a redevelopment of the East Shore Road Corridor, the Village of Great Neck adopted several laws designed to create a waterfront district, permit a mixed use of the property and end the current moratoriums on both the east and west sides of the corridor. After two-and-a-half years of moratoriums, studies and public hearings, the mayor and the board of trustees unanimously adopted the new legislation at the village's March 2 board of trustees meeting.

UCF Golden Gala Honors 50 Volunteers
The United Community Fund of Great Neck and North New Hyde Park celebrates 50 years of service to the community this year. And in honor of this golden anniversary, UCF will honor 50 volunteers for their many years of community service in Great Neck. The UCF Golden Gala is Thursday evening, May 6, at the Village Club at Lake Success.

Six South High Varsity Wrestlers Qualify for Nassau County Tournament
Senior Derek Halpern, and captain of the varsity wrestling team for the past two years may have had a late start when he began wrestling in his freshman year, compared to athletes who go out for wrestling in the seventh grade, but through hard work, discipline and determination, Halpern was one of six varsity wrestlers who qualified for the Nassau County tournament. And at the tournament, Halpern was the qualifying champion in the 125-pound weight class. "I wrestled real well and I accomplished what I wanted to accomplish," Halpern proudly said, and added, "It was a great experience."

Long Island Breast Cancer Two Day Walk - Orientation Meeting
Nassau County residents and friends are invited to come learn how they can participate in the Long Island 2 Day Walk to Fight Breast Cancer. The orientations will be held on Tuesday, March 23 at 6 p.m. at the Adelphi School of Social Work, Room 302, and on Thursday, March 25, at the Westbury Library, 455 Jefferson Street, across from the Middle School on Rockland Street.
