Deena Lesser Takes on New Town Post
It's a new administration in the Town of North Hempstead and Great Neck's Deena Lesser now finds herself in a brand new post in town government. Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman appointed Ms. Lesser as director of inter-municipal affairs. In her new position, Ms. Lesser will work with North Hempstead's 31 villages on all town affairs that impact on a village.

Seven GN Public Schools Intel Semifinalists
Kudos to Great Neck's seven high school seniors who were named semifinalists in the 2004 Intel Science Talent Search. Semifinalists from North High School are Henny Admoni, Jonathan Birnbaum, Katherine Chiang, Maanit Desai, Jason Li, and Svyatoslav Mishchenko. South High's semifinalist is Sharon Chou. These seven are among 300 Semifinalists selected from over 1,600 applicants nationwide.

Wrestling Victory at Wheatley High Invitational Tournament
On Saturday afternoon, Jan 17 at the Wheatley High Invitational in Old Westbury, Michael Parada. captain of the South High varsity wrestling team, pinned his opponent, a wrestler from Uniondale High, in three minutes during the second period of the wrestling match. Parada wrestles in the 275-pound weight class.

USMMA Women's Basketball News
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy women's basketball team took a late lead in the second half, in a close battle versus St. Joseph's College, Tuesday evening, Jan. 20. But clutch free-throw shooting helped the Golden Eagles reclaim the advantage and seal the Skyline Conference victory, as they defeated the Mariners, 63-53.
