His energy and enthusiasm just filled the room, as he spoke eagerly about taking office on Jan. 1. Initial plans are being formulated and Mr. Kaiman is starting to put together his team.

Real Estate Investment Trust Nibbling at East Shore Road
A potential new player emerged in the game plan to rezone and redevelop East Shore Road at last Tuesday's Village of Great Neck trustees meeting when Mayor Richard Deem introduced Daniel K. Pfeffer, the president of Midtown Equities LLC, a private investment management firm, founded by Joe Cayre, that has experience in developing brownfields with a special interest in waterfront properties. The Nassau County Planning Commission was instrumental in bringing the two parties together.

Special Olympics Athletes Prepare for Basketball Challenge
After a restful summer, the Great Neck Spirits Special Olympics athletes began fall basketball training at the North Middle gym. The Spirits looked refreshed and very glad too be with their friends once again as they prepare for the ninth annual Special Olympics basketball challenge this coming May.

Exceptional Senior All Star Soccer Games
Great Neck South High senior Janyne Eisner was selected by Nassau County coaches to participate in the 23rd Annual Exceptional Senior Soccer games at Farmingdale State College during the Thanksgiving weekend. Over 75 college coaches were recruiting soccer players for their programs. Heavy winds and cold temperatures didn't diminish the high level of play. "It was a great experience to play with these outstanding seniors and to speak with college coaches interested in recruiting me," Janyne said.
