School Board President Larry Gross
With 22 years of experience on the school board, including seven years as president and several years as vice president, Lawrence Gross has once again taken up the challenge of heading the Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education. ''I really like children ... and public education has a high value in my life,'' Mr. Gross told the Record, as he explained why he chose the top spot once more. ''I have always been a great supporter of public education and in Great Neck the work provides a lot of challenges; I find it very invigorating and I enjoy it,'' he added.

Old Village Public Meetings on TV?
Whether or not to televise public board of trustees meetings for the Village of Great Neck. That is the question now facing the Old Village. Resident Nat Silver has asked permission to tape the twice-monthly meetings for broadcast on local Public Access Television. However, even though there was some discussion at the board's Aug. 19 meeting, with two trustees absent, Mayor Richard Deem put off a final discussion and a decision until the next board meeting on Sept. 2.

UCF'S 4th Annual Pro-AM a Smashing Success!
The gods sent a dry sunny day to Wildwood Pool and Tennis Club on Sunday, Aug. 10. After multiple days of rainy gloomy weather, the United Community Fund's 4th Annual Pro-Am Tournament came off without a hitch. Ronnie Kahn, Wildwood's indomitable pro, put together a fabulous tournament replete with eight pros and 16 amateurs. After 42 games, the wily Red Team was victorious.
