John W. Truss, 79, of Great Neck, died on Aug. 2, 2003. A participant in the Normandy Invasion during WWII, he was a 53-year member of the Alert Fire Co. of GN and Plumbers Union Local 200. Husband of the late Rita. Brother of Mary Picardi (Julius), Peter (Frances) and William (Dorothy). Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Funeral Chapel. William (Bill) Gold died on Aug. 2, 2003. He graduated from Bronx High School of Science '46, Harvard '49. He was an active volunteer fund raiser for Harvard as a thank you for accepting him and giving him a scholarship. After graduation from Columbia Law School, he was an assistant DA in Manhattan and then a trial lawyer. He was an active member of the Great Neck community for the past 38 years recently serving as Village Judge and Trustee of Temple Beth El. He was also Commander of the Great Neck Power Squadron, active in PTAs, was a softball coach, a defensive driving teacher and a member of the Great Neck Zoning Board. His keen wit, charm, intelligence, warmth and friendliness will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral at Sunset Chapels, Manhasset.
Jeannette S. Post, 90, of Kings Point, died on Aug. 7, 2003 at North Shore University Hospital. She worked at Jeannette S. Dolgin, Esq. Wife of the late Bernard. Mother of Sheri Buchbinder and Dr. Kalmon Post. Daughter of the late Kalmon Dolgin and the late Sarah Gordon. Arrangements were made by Riverside-Nassau North Chapels, Great Neck. Services were held on Aug. 10 with Rabbi Myron Fenster. Interment Beth Moses Cemetery.
Dr. Arnold Honigman died Aug. 9, 2003. He practiced dentistry in Great Neck for over 40 years. Dr. Honigman contributed many years of community service to Great Neck. Husband of Eileen. Father of Alan, Elizabeth Malawer and Mark. Grandfather of Ted, Abby and Leigh. Brother of Morris Honigman and Esther Weiss. Arrangements were made by Riverside-Nassau North Chapels, Great Neck. Services were held Aug. 11. Burial Wellwood Cemetery, Farmingdale.
