What Is the Deal with 7 Wood Road?
Perched at the top of a steep hill is an idyllic parcel of land heavily dotted with old trees and a mini-meadow that comprises 1.3 acres. To walk the land, one can imagine stepping back in time to the era when Great Neck was a backwater farming community. The peacefulness of the site belies the smoldering controversy that has made 7 Wood Road a lightning rod for the forces of development, property rights, zoning laws and a neighborhood fears of severe negative impacts on adjoining properties.

Old Village Looking at All Sewer Options
At the Aug. 5 board of trustees meeting, Village of Great Neck Mayor Richard Deem announced that the village and the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District will be looking at all three options regarding the mandated updating of sewer systems in order to reduce nitrates in Long Island Sound by 2014. The options include upgrading the village's plant and the district plant or combining and upgrading the two plants or diverting sewage to the South Shore. It is expected that grant money will cover most, if not all of the process.

Sportime Tennis Luncheon of Champions
Celebrating a spectacular spring season of indoor tennis, Sportime at Roslyn hosts their seventh annual Women's League Tennis Luncheon to honor spring 2003 award-winners and to thank all the dynamic members for their super sportsmanship. On Wednesday, June 4, League Director Karen Marlib Palevsky coordinated a tantalizing tennis buffet, inviting hundreds of league members to delight in a day of round robin tennis on all nine har-tru clay courts. Between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. major leaguers mingled during doubles action with members from all 16 leagues.
