Great Neck Plaza Walking Tour Available
The Village of Great Neck Plaza and Long Island Traditions are pleased to announce the publication of "Great Neck Plaza Historic Walking Tour" guide written by Nancy Solomon, executive director of Long Island Traditions and preservation consultant to the Village of Great Neck Plaza. The guide explores the history and architectural styles of the village's historic buildings.

School Board Presents Policy Manual
The Great Neck Public Schools' Board of Education policy manual was presented at the last board of education meeting for the 2002-2003 school year on June 16. The thick, purple and gold bound book is a new and complete compilation of all of the board of education policies. Board of Education Vice President Barbara Berkowitz, who chairs the board's policy committee, discussed the manual, which took much time and hard work to bring to fruition.

Red Cross Urges Pool Safety
With summer now officially upon us and the 4th of July weekend just about to begin, families have opened their backyard swimming pools. Tragically, though, if this summer is like recent summers, several Long Islanders will drown in their pools. The American Red Cross in Nassau County (ARC/Nassau) urges all Long Islanders to closely examine the safety of their pool now, as well as the surrounding area, and to be extremely mindful of crucial safety tips.

Kings Point Dinghy Sailors Finish Sixth at National Championships
The US Merchant Marine Academy's Intercollegiate Dingy Sailing Team had a sixth-place finish at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association's North American Coed Dingy Championship. The three-day event, June 8, 9 and 10, held at the Bayview Yacht Club in Detroit, MI, saw a wide range of weather and wind conditions and intense team competition. Head Coach Kim Logan-Gochberg and Assistant Coach Nathaniel Stoffelsma led the team that consisted of Peeter Must '05 (Toms River, NJ) and crews Emily Gardner '06 (Lindenhurst, NY) and Tim Cain '06 (Marlboro, NJ) to eighth place in A-Division and Matt Shubert '04 (Annapolis, MD) and crews Greer Ferguson '06 (Great Neck, NY/a graduate of Great Neck North HS, 2002) and Jared Leigh '03 (Passadena, MD) to fifth place in B-Division. Additional team members were Daniel Ramsay '05 (Pascagoula, MS) and Graham Merganthaler '06 (Colts Neck, NJ).
