Democrats Nominate Kaiman for Town Supervisor
"I believe our town is one of nicest places to live in America and I aim to keep it that way," Jon Kaiman told Anton Community Newspapers in an interview just two days after his nomination as the Democrats' choice for North Hempstead Town Supervisor. A resident of Great Neck for 13 years (and a 23-year resident of Nassau County), this 40-year-old attorney has already served town government as commissioner of public safety, dealing with code enforcement, emergency management, town security, parking enforcement, harbor control, and animal control. And he has served, informally, as one of Town Supervisor May Newburger's senior advisors.

Government Agencies Report to Community on Air, Water Quality and Superfund
Everyone who drinks water and breathes the air in Great Neck is invited to come to Great Neck's Main Library, 139 Bayview Avenue, on June 19 at 7:30 p.m. The U.S. Environmental Protection (EPA) project engineers, Lou DiGuardia and Damian Duda will finally present the long awaited Hydrogeological Report. Sub-contractor, Earth-Tech Environment & Infrastructure, Inc., has studied the soil, and aquifers under the Stanton Cleaners Area groundwater contamination federal EPA Superfund site.

Undefeated Great Neck Golfers Advance to County Championship
The combined Great Neck North and South Senior High School Golf Team won all of their matches this spring in competitions with Oyster Bay, North Shore, Wheatley, Glen Cove, Plainview and Port Washington High Schools for a total of 12 victories.

South's Varsity Baseball Team Wins Championship
There was an air of confidence on the effervescent bus ride to Herricks as the Great Neck South varsity baseball team bounced toward their final game of the season. Overcoming early difficulties this season, the team steadily improved their record to reach the division championship game against Manhasset and win, 13-3.
