Agnes Zalduondo, of Great Neck, died on March 4, 2003. Wife of the late Javier. Mother of Heather, Jay and Nicole. Grandmother of Kristin, Keila, Kassandra, Katie, Parker and Jayden. Arrangements were made by the Fairchild Funeral Chapel, Manhasset.
David Gerstein, 87, a Great Neck resident for more than 25 years, died peacefully on March 13, 2003 at his home in West Palm Beach, FL. Born in Cleveland, OH, Mr. Gertstein was the oldest of three children of Bessie and Max Gerstein. He graduated from Ohio State University and married Sara Callaway in 1941. Together they moved to New Hyde Park and then Great Neck, where they raised two daughters and were active in many local religious, civic and business organizations. He was a board member of Muttontown Country Club. His other former affiliations included: president of NYP Jewish Center, co-chairman of UJA LI Electronic Division, and vice president and board member of People to People Foundation International. He was an active participant in Israel Tennis Centers as well as an Israeli Bond Honoree.
A pioneer in the field of cable television, Mr. Gerstein retired as president of Eastern Operations for Lear Siegler Corp. in 1974 and moved to West Palm Beach where he served on the board of the President Country Club for more than 10 years and was an active trustee of his condominium.
His wife of 50 years, Sara Gerstein, and daughter, Marci Singer, died earlier. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Weiner Dubeck of Northampton, MA; a brother, Sol Certh, and sister, Adele Gold, both of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Jill Singer of Forest Hills, Mark Singer of Melville, Jennifer Neiman Gottlieb of Cambridge, MA and Anna Neiman of San Francisco, CA; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan and Kendall Singer and Ruby Sara Gottlieb.
Mr. Gerstein will be missed for his love of golf and tennis, children, politics and people.
