Great Neck Co-op and Condominium Council at Work
For the first time ever, co-op and condominium owners in Nassau County have an opportunity to organize, to network, and to be ''heard'' as one strong group. The Great Neck Co-op and Condominium Council began a year-and-a-half ago in the Village of Great Neck Plaza, with the support of the Plaza board and Mayor Jean Celender. Within a short period of time, the co-op and condo council began to draw members from all over the Great Neck peninsula and beyond.

Playing Monopoly in the Old Village
"We have been misled," asserted Village of Great Neck Mayor Stephen Falk at a Town Meeting held to shore up a sagging relationship with some of his constituents. Mr. Falk was referring to the proposal brought to the village in August by developer Frank Lalezarian to construct a large apartment complex on Middle Neck Road at the Arrandale Avenue intersection. According to Mr. Falk, who has made no secret of his desire to promote more "affordable housing for empty nesters" and to revive the business strips in the Old Village, he met with the developer over a period of time to influence the design of the project so that it would be more acceptable to community sensibilities.

South Girls Swim & Diving Team Goes Undefeated in Championship Season
Congratulations to the girls varsity swim and diving team of Great Neck South High, who had a remarkable season. The team went undefeated (11-0), winning their division and conference championship titles. Coach Andy Berlin has been working in the Great Neck Public Schools for 17 years and said that the girls swim team had not won a title during this time.

Bowl With the New York Islanders
On Sunday, Feb. 9, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island will be holding its 22nd Annual Celebrity Day Bowlathon at the AMF Sheridan Bowl in Mineola beginning at noon. Hockey fans throughout Long Island will have an opportunity to actually get down on the lanes and bowl a game with selected players from the New York Islanders. Those in attendance will also get to see some of their favorite radio personalities from WLIR, WHLI, KJOY, B-103 and 94.
