Friday, the 13th of December, was not a day of bad luck for the women's Great Neck North Varsity Fencing Team, as they continued their winning streak against Hewlett High School in a resounding 21-6 victory. The winning streak continued on Dec. 16 with a 20-7 victory over the highly-rated Wheatley High School Team. This brings the Blazers record this season to three wins, 0 losses.

The Blazers are building a dynasty in Nassau County having a perfect 14-0 season in 1999/2000 and having had a 13-1 record and winning the County Championships in both the 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 seasons.

Fencing, long an Olympic sport, is gaining popularity throughout the United States. There are now eight Nassau County High School teams and 44 NCAA College teams.

A rigorous schedule of matches will continue after the holiday vacation. For a complete schedule of matches see www.gnnathletics.com.
