County and Villages Ally to Promote Long Island Sound Cleanup
The goal to restore Long Island Sound to a healthy, thriving eco-system by 2014 will take place slowly and painstakingly and requires many small steps on the part of large and small municipalities. One step toward that end is the requirement that villages, towns and counties on Long Island and Connecticut submit notices of intent to the Environmental Protection Agency by March 2003 spelling out their strategies to curb the levels of non-point source pollution in their storm drains that eventually feed into the Sound.

Sid Jacobson JCC 2003 Maccabi Games Tryouts for Jewish Teen Athletes
Sid Jacobson JCC of East Hills is seeking Jewish teen athletes for the boys and girls soccer and basketball teams for the 2003 Maccabi Games. This year the JCC will compete at the games in Tenafly, NJ from Aug. 17-22, 2003. Athletes must be ages 13-16 and must be 16 by Aug. 1, 2003.

Great Neck Sweeps County Soccer Awards
At the 2002 Annual Awards Dinner given by the Nassau County Soccer Coaches Associations in Uniondale on Dec. 3, five Great Neck High School students were awarded special honors for their outstanding soccer play this season. Cited with the All Conference Award were North's Jarett Sanatar, Benjamin Plesser and Mark Hadjibay. South's Ethan Guttenplan also won the award while South's goalie Perry Fallick earned the prestigious All County Honorable Mention Award.
