School District Water Remediation Update
Following a Nov. 6 special meeting of the Great Neck Public Schools board of education and a brief discussion at the Nov. 18 regularly scheduled board of education public action meeting, the board authorized school district administration to work toward an ''appropriate contract'' regarding water remediation. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMC) requested permission to place an extraction well and underground pipelines on school district property for the purpose of removing and cleansing contaminated water emanating from Lockheed Martin facilities.

USMMA Football Update
The US Merchant Marine Academy Mariners posted their sixth consecutive win on the gridiron on Saturday on Tomb Field in Brooks Stadium with a 35-17 victory over the Wolverines of Grove City College. Junior tailback David McNeal (San Antonio, TX) owned the day with 219 yards and four touchdowns on 33 carries. Kings Point stands at 7-2 overall and owns a 4-1 Freedom Football Conference ledger. The Wolverines fall to 3-7 overall in 2002.

15th Annual Ho Ho Ho Holiday Run
A special invitation has been issued to runners and walkers from Great Neck and nearby communities to join in on a morning of festive family fun and fitness at the 15th annual Ho Ho Ho Holiday 5 Kilometer Run, to be held on the roads of Bethpage on Saturday morning, Dec. 21.
