  • Sports: American Heart Walk Chairman Names 'Red Cap Ambassadors'

    LIPA CEO and American Heart Walk Chairman Richard Kessel announced that Jeff Singleton of Lake Ronkonkoma and Jennifer Letini of Hicksville will be the "Red Cap Ambassadors" of the American Heart Association's 2002 American Heart Walk. Singleton and Letini will join hundreds of people from throughout the Long Island area that will step out, save lives - strengthen the chain of survival by walking in American Heart Walk at New York Institute of Technology in Central Islip and Nassau Community College in Garden City on Sunday, Oct. 27. "Red Caps" refers to survivors of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke or heart surgery who wear red baseball caps featuring the American Heart Walk logo and the slogan, Fighting Back! Thousands of survivors - like Jeff and Jennifer - throughout the country walk in the American Heart Walk. "Jeff and Jennifer have inspired and heightened the enthusiasm for everyone involved in this event," said Kessel. "More importantly they help create awareness about the importance of AEDs, CPR and the dangers of heart disease." FULL STORY
