Great Neck Remembers
The day of September 11, 2002 dawned brightly with a group of approximately 300 people from Temple Israel who met at the 9-11 Bridge to pray and to watch the sunrise. And over the course of the day, there were numerous public events held to give mourners a setting for reflection and a sense of community.

Joe Rosenthal Runs For Park Commissioner
Joe Rosenthal is running against Liz Berenson for the position of Great Neck park commissioner. Current park chair, William Dobkin, whose term ends this year, has told the Great Neck Record that he will not seek re-election.

UCF Pro-Am Tennis Tournament
The third annual UCF Pro-Am tennis tournament took place on Sunday, Aug. 11, at Wildwood Tennis Club. There were 16 amateur and eight pros who participated. Ron Kahn, head pro at Wildwood, and Harriet Becker, UCF vice president for special events, ran the activities. Wildwood member Doug Luba sponsored the tournament, along with Harvest Buffet and Peter Luger's Steak House.
